Tygem as a company is very young-recently founded, but it has its trading roots back in 1890’s.

Great Grandfather, Capar Mustapha first commenced trading activities in 1890’s by establishing barter trade in selling household goods against copper, aluminum scraps and wool. Later he expanded his trade activities into animal trading.

Grandfather, Yusuf took over trading business after Capar Mustapha passed away in early 1910’s and made it an established business and expanded it into agricultural commodities. Yusuf became a prominent person in the area and elected into public office as Village Manager (“Mukhtar”) or “Reeve”. Upon his election to the public duty, he discontinued his business activities to avoid conflict of interest. His public office continued over 30 years until his late ages. Grandfather, Yusuf was so loyal to his public service that he did not allow any of his children to continue his business activities. The trading tradition of great Capar Family thus took a temporary break.

Tygem founder, Yusuf (“Great Grandson”) commenced his initial trading activities in his teen’s. His first marketing experience was to sell organically grown potato and eggs to nearby villages. Also he sold seasonal fruit and vegetables at local fairs and festivals. Additionally, he arranged short film sessions for children in the same festivals and fairs.

Yusuf, during summer vacations at his college years crafted and sold small tools for agricultural use. During his graduate years, he was the photographer of the class.

Yusuf’s work as a marketing professional earned him international recognition in several commodities. Tygem was founded as a vehicle to furnish this experience and knowledge accumulation for greater use of metals concentrates and industrial minerals.
